It's been almost a year since this magical winter wedding and I have to confess that I like weddings at this time of year more and more. Warm despite the cold temperatures and with a special charm and light.
Leti and my cousin Pepo got married at the beginning of 2017 and she was our first bride of the year. I loved starting it with a Mimoki bride like her and especially with such a special celebration for my whole family.
Madrid woke up cold on January 21 and the preparations began at the bride's parents' house. Leti, her younger sister María and her mother, Lourdes, chose the designer Inés Martín Alcalde for the big day.
Leti wore a simple dress and it was the details that really made the difference. The bodice with the old embroidery so typical of Inés, a very flowing cape that covered her shoulders and as a highlight a white fur collar that couldn't have matched better with our crown, made with vintage pieces and trimmings.
Leti trusted our dear Álvaro Talayero to do her hair and makeup. No one knows better than him how to highlight the natural beauty of brides. Light makeup that illuminates, relaxed hairstyles... He gave Leti a low ponytail that allowed her to play with the structure of the headdress, so particular that today it continues to be one of the models that you ask about the most when you come to see us in the store.
Maria and Lourdes also passed through Alvaro's hands and were radiant. Both in velvet dresses and their mimoki headdress. Maria looked gorgeous with a silk-lined turban headband with reliefs in the same colour as her dress and a black veil covering her face. And Lourdes, so elegant with a very mimoki headdress with creative structures that were wrapped around each other in different materials.
The bride and groom said “I do” in the church of Las Calatravas, in the heart of Madrid. As a creative soul, nothing amuses me more than arriving and seeing pews full of guests wearing their Mimoki headdresses . My cousins –the groom’s sisters–, my sister, my mother, Leti’s friends and family… mimokigirls of all ages with their headdress, isn't it great?
We left the city after the ceremony to continue enjoying the day at Las Tenadas estate. After lunch, Leti and Pepo opened the dance, which we all joined later. A fun and relaxed couple decided to change their dress shoes for white converse with which they could jump and dance to the rhythm of Mickey Pavón (he's a genius!). And of course, we all got caught up in that fun atmosphere. The bride became the queen of the party with her other headdress , Mimoki, a three-level structure in aged brass adorned with crystals and crowned by our feather duster. Japanese to give it that rock touch that I like so much.
You don't know how much fun we had, how much we laughed, how much we danced, how much we cried (but from laughter too)...
And how happy I was knowing that, once again, another bride shined on her big day with her mimoki headdress. <3
